FORMER FOOTBALL STAR TACKLING MANDURAH MARKET FOR @REALTY

July 24, 2018
A family weekender inspired a sea-change for former Fremantle Docker turned @realty agent, Daniel Bandy, who is making his mark in the South Mandurah corridor.

Bandy, a member of Fremantle’s inaugural AFL squad, said he launched his real estate career in Mandurah after years of visiting the holiday hotspot.

“I was always interested in real estate, and completed a sales registration course through RMIT whilst I was still playing football in Melbourne,” he said.

“We had a holiday house in Wannanup and decided to move down after I retired from AFL.

“Mandurah is a relaxed place to live, with the ocean and estuary at our doorstep. I feel lucky to live in a holiday location where I can take my family surfing, boating or fishing on a weekly basis.

Bandy moved to @realty close to two years ago, lured by the national real estate company’s flexible business model and career opportunities.

“The software is user-friendly and the team is very supportive. You’re not capped on potential earnings, and it allows me the flexibility I need to spend quality time with my family, with three children under 14.

“Whilst the local market has been tough for a few years now, I’m confident it’s on the way back up, with some recent signs of growth in the market.

“We are getting interest from a range of buyers who are eager to buy into the Mandurah lifestyle, from young families who are able to secure a good product for a good price, to retirees who can get value for money.”

Bandy – whose AFL career spanned more than a decade – said his football experience has been invaluable in real estate.

“The league transformed into big business during that era; from a few coaches to elite performance squads including dieticians and physiotherapists,” he said.

“Like football, the real estate industry rewards those who work hard. You have to show commitment, maintain a strong work ethic, stay determined and focus on self-improvement.

“Both industries require you to talk to people from all walks of life and develop a rapport with the general public. Football is a great stepping stone into any business and it’s a good talking point for me too.”
